Visiting North Manchester over the Holidays

We were able to make a quick run back to Indiana over the Christmas Holidays.  Spent time in Hartford City with my Mother-in-law and then on to NM for Christmas dinner with brothers Del and Lynn and sister-in-law Connie.  After dinner, we took a quick drive around town just to see what had changed and what was the same.  Lots of both!IMG_6396 IMG_6391IMG_6397

Morrie Sites

Morrie was actually the first person to respond to the reunion request for information via e-mail.  Thanks so much for your comments.

Morrie retired in 1997 as Director of Engineering at Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana.  He and his wife, Pat, have traveled all over the US and parts of Canada and Mexico. They have been to Acapulco, Cancun, Mexico City, Hawaii, etc. They have a large yard and vegetable garden, and Morrie enjoys woodworking.  He also enjoys playing bridge, but hasn’t done much of that lately.  Following a heart attack in 2004, his cardiologist said that he must stay fit and active, so he and Pat go to the gym every day for cardio and weights.

Morrie and Pat have a daughter with two grandsons, ages 6 and 9 living in Cincinnati, and another daughter living in Chicago.

Hugh was actually one of the first to send me a message via e-mail. He shared some interesting facts about the past 50 years. He lists the following as his occupations and work activity:

U. S. Foreign Service; international development for 25 years; disaster and emergency preparedness planning; human rights in Ontario government; now work with Ontario police forces figuring out how to help disadvantaged communities organize against crime and social disorder

Doesn’t this look like a great place to live. ( above) They live on a farm.

We live on 100 acres -- 60 of which is mixed, hard-, and softwood bush. I'll attach a pic, below, of our "field" in which we grow 6 varietals of berries, out of which we make value-added products for market. As you can no doubt imagine, we're under 3 feet of snow now -- a lifestyle we also enjoy, believe it or not (I know, for you Floridians, that's hard to believe!). E.g. we're out on X-country skis for 1.5 hrs., twice a day, with our dogs -- on our own bush trails. Of course, the purpose of that is to give the dogs! exercise -- a-hem! Then we return to our cozy home in which a fire burns all winter long -- day and night -- fueled by our own, sustainable supply of firewood. O'course that means that every April there's a huge push, just at the end of our maple syrup run, to get the next year's supply of fire wood cut, split, stacked and drying.”                Thompsonitesky

Karen Walker Wright

Karen is the first in our class to post to this blog.  Thanks, Karen, for sharing.  Here is what she said:  “ I too am enjoying retirement in Harbor Hills, a community in Central FL, not far from where Nancy and Danny winter. We live on a canal to Lake Griffin and have access to the Lake Dora Chain of Lakes and the Oklawaha River. I enjoy gardening, and boating. I've been involved in the HH Mariner's Club, the HH Ladies Charity, bridge, and church activities. I'm super excited about seeing everyone in Aug. for our 50th and want to express my gratitude to all of you who are working to make our 50th possible!”
