Manchester Class of 1961 Villages Reunion

Downtown in Spanish Springs is this neat bar where you can make your own wine. We didn't try that as you go back  8 weeks ( or more ) later and pick it up.

All wine and beer is $5 a glass or a flight of 3 also for $5.  Neat way to try a variety.

MHS 61 Class meets at the Villages, FL

The weekend has finally arrived for us to descend on Central Florida. The first stop is the Polo grounds for a Polo match on Sunday. Does anyone else feel like they need a quick tutoring in following polo? Not much time left. For those of us who grew up on Indiana basketball, polo might as well be a foreign language. See everyone soon.

Loss of another classmate

Janet Sue Purdy King passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015.  The following is her obituary.

Janet was a 1961 graduate of Manchester High School. She married Billie Ray King July 23, 1963, in North Manchester; he died April 11, 1997. She worked 16 years at the First National Bank in Huntington and after moving to Valparaiso she was the Customer Service Representative at C.S.I. retiring in 2010. She was a longtime member of the Servia Congregational Christian Church and a member of the America Women's Business Association. Janet enjoyed spoiling her granddaughters and her 3 cats.

She is survived by 2 children, Angela Renee (Michael) Florey of North Manchester, and Eric King of Valparaiso, 3 granddaughters, Evan Florey, Shiloh Florey, and Micah Florey, all of North Manchester, 2 brothers, Jerry (Marcea) Purdy and Richard (Phyllis) Purdy, both of North Manchester, sister, Julia Badskey of North Webster, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Ross Purdy and 1 brother-in-law Jerry Badskey.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Rev. Steve Badskey officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call 2-8 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is VNA Hospice Center, 2404 Valparaiso Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383.

Arizona Resident MHS 1961 Grad

Esther Taylor Hassing shares her latst passion.  Performing with this group must keep you looking young.  They performed at the Fiesta Bowl Parade, December 27.

Manchester 1961 Grads Enjoy the Beach

Ron and Jane Baker are visiting Ron's brother Brian in Fort Myers, FL.  While in the area, they made a trip down to Bonita Beach where Joyce (Beery) Miles, her husband, Bob and their Purdue friends, Lydia and Jerry Beehler are renting a condo.  Ron and Jerry were Purdue roommates and Joyce and Lydia were roommates.  We spent two days reliving 50 year old memories, laughing like crazy and just enjoying a great time.
